Being a great teacher and running a great business are different skills.
You know how to read a body, cue a movement and hold a room. Then the class ends and the other job starts: the bookings, the pricing, the insurance renewal, the social post you haven’t written, the teacher who wants more hours, the spreadsheet you keep meaning to open.
Teacher training taught you the method. It almost certainly didn’t teach you how to set a price that pays you properly, write a business plan, manage risk, or market yourself without feeling like a salesperson.
So you do what dedicated teachers do. You work harder. You teach more. And the business side quietly takes over the time and energy that drew you to Pilates in the first place.
It doesn’t have to work like that. Building a business is a lot like learning Pilates: movements that look simple turn out to be complex, and you progress by layering one skill on the next. The Pilatespreneur Academy gives you those layers, in order.
The business education Pilates teacher training leaves out.
The Pilatespreneur Academy is a self-paced online course for Pilates teachers and studio owners who want to turn their passion into a business that is structured, sustainable and rewarding.
I teach every lesson myself, on camera, in the same warm and practical way I teach a class. Each idea comes with a tool you can use straight away: a worksheet, a template, or a set of questions to answer about your own business.
By the end you will have:
- Clarity on what you want, so your business reflects your values and ambitions
- A written business plan and strategic direction, not just good intentions
- A clear view of your money: your budget, your pricing and your mindset about both
- The policies, insurance and risk management that protect you and your clients
- Marketing that sounds like you: your message, your logo brief, your website and your social posts
- Systems and boundaries that give you back time for the work you love
Whether you are setting up for the first time or strengthening a studio you already run, start where you are. Small, intentional changes add up.

Your teacher: Tania Huddart
I have been teaching Pilates for more than thirty years, in London, New Zealand, Qatar, Bermuda and Australia.
In 2002 I opened my own studio, Hearts and Bones Pilates, built on the idea that a studio exists to serve the people in it. In 2008 I became the first instructor in New Zealand to hold the National Pilates Certification Program credential, and I remain a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT).
I have mentored teachers and studio owners for years, and wrote two books for them: Teach Pilates with Confidence, because teacher training so rarely teaches people how to teach, and Pilates & Purpose, a guide to building a studio from the heart.
Today I live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia, where I teach at Balance and Control Pilates in Red Hill and coach Pilates professionals around the world.
“When I opened Hearts and Bones Pilates, I just wanted a job I loved. What I found was a calling.”

Why I built a studio at all
Four years into teaching, I was sitting with my close friend Tony in hospital. He was very ill, and I was guiding him through gentle breath and movement to ease his pain. He looked at me and asked, “What are you doing?” He wasn’t asking about the exercises. He was asking why I wasn’t fully committing to Pilates as my life’s work.
A month later Tony died. His question became the turning point that led me to open my studio. Everything in the Academy comes from the years that followed.
Your questions, answered
I’m a teacher, not a business person. Will I keep up?
Yes. That’s exactly who the Academy is for. I explain every topic in plain language, and each lesson ends with something practical to do rather than theory to memorise. You don’t need a business background, only a willingness to look honestly at your own.
I barely have time to teach. When would I do a course?
Whenever suits you. It’s self-paced, and you can work through one stage at a time. Stage 2 is about managing your time and energy, so the course starts giving time back early.
I already have a studio. Is this too basic?
The early stages are about clarity, and established owners often find those the most useful, because they’ve been too busy to step back. The later stages on risk, succession planning, pricing and HR are where many established studios have gaps. Skip what you’ve already nailed.
I teach independently and don’t plan to open a studio. Is it still for me?
Yes. Values, goals, niche, ideal client, pricing, policies, insurance and marketing apply to any Pilates business, including a business of one.
I’ve read Pilates & Purpose. Isn’t this the same thing?
They work together. The book gives you the stories and the thinking behind a heart-centred business. The Academy turns it into action: me on video, step by step, with worksheets you fill in for your own business.
I’m not in Australia. Does it still apply?
Yes. I have taught in five countries, and the Academy is written for teachers anywhere. Where rules differ, such as insurance, compliance and tax, I show you what to ask so your local adviser can give you the right answer.
How long do I have access?
For life. Your enrolment doesn’t expire, so you can come back to any lesson whenever the question comes up.
What if it isn’t right for me?
If within 14 days you’ve worked through the first two stages and don’t feel it’s helping, send me a message and I’ll refund you in full.
Can I get personal help?
Yes. Every student can book a free 20-minute discovery call with me. If you want ongoing support, I offer one-to-one coaching for teachers and studio owners.
What currency is the price in?
Australian dollars. Your card provider converts it at checkout.
Your business deserves the same care you give your clients.
You already know how to help people move with strength and confidence. The Pilatespreneur Academy helps you build a business that does the same for you: structured, sustainable, and true to why you started.
